Azar Lawrence Quartet- The Legacy of John Coltrane

Jazz musician, Azar Lawrence, led a musical childhood and began playing drums at the age of three and moved to violin and piano at the age of 5. Lawrence took up the alto saxophone at the age of 11. He has played with Ike and Tina Turner, Watts 103rd St. Band, and War. He has performed with Miles Davis in DC and at Carnegie Hall in New York were “Dark Magus” was recorded. Lawrence released three albums of his own before the age of 25. Lawrence wrote and performed for Earth Wind Fire in the 80’s on their highly acclaimed release “Powerlight.”
